My girlfriend laughed when we saw news about father who used stun gun on his 18 month old son should I worry?

Should I be worried ? ...or am I overreacting?
My girlfriend is the sweetest person next to my Mother ....so that is why I am a little weirded out by her(girlfriend) behavior while we were watching the news yesterday about a young father using stun gun several times on his own son.
My girlfriend always helps the disadvantaged.
She helps to save and rehabilitated Innocent abused dogs ....And She volunteers twice a week at the women's shelter.
NO ONE WHO DOES THESE THINGS COULD BE EVIL..?...right?????????

Maybe it was one of those "i'm so disgusted by this I have to laugh" things. Sometimes, when someone does something outrageous, I kind of smile and laugh, not because it's funny, but I'm in disbelief for a few minutes.
