Law enforcement - question about carrying tazer, mace, etc for self protection?

I am considering purchasing an item for self protection. I am considering either a stun gun or a pepper gun. The site gives a safety book and holster for the stun gun as well as the pepper gun. The pepper gun looks like a small hand gun, but shoots OC Spray and is not a fire arm. I am wondering though if this would be a problem carrying in a holster as would the stun gun since it is in the shape of a fire arm. The handle says MACE on it, here it is right here http://tbotech.com/pepper-gun.htm and I live in Tx. Do you think it would be a problem? I don't want to purchase it if i will get into trouble.
Also, would you trust a stun gun or this OC pepper gun for protection? There's been a lot of crime here lately, I want something that could save my life if needed. Thanks

All states vary on the items you can carry for self defense(don't ask me why).
-You will have to scan TX law to determine if Mace is legal and if not what concentration of OC is. I've seen this little dispenser before and for safety sake I suggest you get the pink one since it is in gun form and could be mistaken by both criminals and police.

I know if you pulled that out on me, during twilight, my gun would be out and my finger would be squeezing the trigger.
