celebirities are people like us ... why our society does so much their religion?

American Society Seems to have bottomed out recently our obsession with celebrities and their babies. They are just normal people .... Would we all look so beautiful with plastic surgery as common as haircuts, hair stylists cosmetics, and the best clothes. Remove everything from them and you ... and us. If you remove the weapon a thief, he did nothing .... it's the same concept. We should be worshiping those who are not paid 250 million dollars to be in a movie, rather we should look at humanitarian, doctors, scientists, firemen, policemen, teachers, parents ..... love those selfless enough to devote their lives to helping others and working hard. So please, America, stop buying Enquirer that obsessed with Britney's shaved head. I know it's unfair for me to generalize like that but a large majority of this great country is obsessed with tabloid. Any thoughts / beliefs on this subject?

There is an underlying psychological need for heroes, and other public figures. The only difference is that instead of the obsession with heroic figures such as Hercules, King Arthur, Robin Hood, cowboys famous Daniel Boone Columbus, etc. We turned movie stars. In the old days were our heroic figures that we are linked by books, or Storytellers / wise in a campfire. Now, stories are told by the big screen. Notice how very few current filmmakers acknowledge, would you recognize David Fincher on the street? Do you even know what he looks like? Calling a movie star with celebrities is that they are "heroes" In our modern legends (films), they are soft, heroic, beautiful and idealistic image. They are the ones that we see taking risks, triumphs over evil or fail miserably, they are indomitable and courageous, the Joseph Campbell's Hero model in full glory. Even the musicians feel our emotions in a manner that leaves a lasting impression, meets a need, and to a higher status BASED Them. As a species we have needed to be absorbed by the heroism of others, and it is a place that we passed just to meet this need. We Really Need a high status, Alpha people to be heroes and role-class models to look up, monitor and after we die. In this current culture which happens to be The stars and celebrities. Personally, I think celebrity worship is totally stupid and ridiculous, but I can not deny that this is something natural and will not pass anytime soon.
